Full course description
Get ready for an unforgettable journey!
Throughout this program, you will:
- Break in your hiking boots and enjoy learning and adventuring with and from your peers, Hamline professors, and Peruvian guides
- Employ mental and physical strategies to collaborate and lead in high-altitude physically demanding environments
- Learn how Incas thrived in high-altitude environments and how their discoveries can help us
- Explore Peruvian history from the 1100s to the present, including Inca culture and architecture, while visiting numerous archaeological and cultural sites
- Experience Peruvian fauna and flora, including orchids and llamas
Join us on a transformative expedition through the heart of the Andes, where you’ll trek the legendary Inca trail to Machu Picchu, scale Rainbow Mountain, hike the Red Valley, and explore the ancient city of Cusco. In this immersive experience, you will juxtapose the ambitious personal goal setting of trek completion with understanding the physiological challenges the human body experiences at altitudes between 3,000-5,000 meters (9,800- 16,500 ft).
